Astro’s Playroom Coverage

admin December 11, 2025

Taking place in medieval Persia, players control an unnamed protagonist who must venture through a series of dungeons to defeat the evil Grand Vizier Jaffar and save an imprisoned princess. There are small animals such as crabs, rabbits, and toucans that can be found throughout Astro’s Playroom. However, they have an even more useful purpose in that they can contribute to the player’s coin collection efforts. One hit yields one coin, two hits yield two coins, but three hits will yield the maximum of seven coins, meaning that interested individuals might want to put some serious effort into this. Please note that if they get killed, they will need to re-collect all of the coins since the last checkpoint, meaning that there is extra incentive for them to be careful. Or at least some more replayable sections for things I actually enjoyed.

For example, the roller ball goes from being asphalt paths to a pinball machine-like level, while the ship mostly stays the same but has a fun boss to beat with its rockets. In between each standard platforming level are dedicated sections to unique suits for Astro. Memory Meadow, for instance, Astro becomes a little roller ball that uses the Dualsense’s trackpad for control instead of the left thumbstick. Astro’s Playroom is a very simple and small in-scale and scope game.

Jump up from the smaller umbrella to the larger one, then directly in the middle over the line of coins. Astro’s Playroom has 142 Collectible Locations (46 Artefacts & 96 Puzzle Pieces). This guide shows you where to find all Collectibles in Astro’s Playroom on PS5. Provides accessibility game reviews, commentary, news, and accessibility reference guides. From here, jump right through two glass panels, but instead of using the switch on the right, jump left to get onto a platform with water on it, then left again through some glass.

The DualShock 4 marked the first time the PlayStation controller was given a significant aesthetic redesign. The new Share Button, which let you take screenshots and record video, replaced the Select Button, Fortunately, almost all games moved the Select Button function to pressing down on the new touchpad. Vita Game Packs could also be used on the PlayStation TV, which meant it wasn’t a digital-only platform like the PSP Go was. goal123 was preceded by the original SIXAXIS controller, which lacked rumble motors and had a slightly transparent plastic shell. Because of this, early PS3 games lacked rumble, but several were retroactively patched to support the feature. The DualShock 3 released exactly one year after the PS3’s launch date.

The Playroom

Each area showcases innovative gameplay that taps into the new features of the PS5’s DualSense wireless controller. Astro’s Playroom was a launch title for the PlayStation 5 that comes pre-installed on the console. The game is a fantastic tech demo for the DualSense controller while also being an enjoyable platformer in its own right. Astro’s Playroom has been described as a love letter to PlayStation, as the game is full of references to past and present Sony franchises. [newline]As you’re exploring Playroom’s levels you’ll also stumble across Astro Bots wearing a blue cap and holding a camera. They’re mostly there for the fun of it all rather than to accumulate anything, but every single one of them made me smile, even the few that I had to take a moment to try and guess at. I won’t spoil any more here so as to not rob anyone of the joy of first discovering them.

Astro’s Playroom is as old as the PlayStation 5, and this is most likely the first game new owners booted up. Despite being a brief experience, this is the kind of game that can be played with family members and is worth playing in 2025. Sony Interactive Entertainment finally nailed the platforming genre, and it only took a cute little robot to give them the courage to innovate. Another display you can unlock for the Labo area is a sign with the Sony Interactive Entertainment logo which, if punched three times, will drop down and reveal the Sony Computer Entertainment logo.

The first two hits on an animal will give you one Coin each, which the third will give you five, for a total of seven! Another unlockable display for the Labo area are some canisters with white logos in them. These are the icons for the Xross Media Bar, which debuted on the 2003 PSX console in Japan, but is more known for its use on the PSP, PS3 and on Bravia TVs. The logos are still in use today, with the exception of the old PSN logo.

I had a bunch of games and PS+ when I got my PS5 but I still played through 100% of this and got the Platinum before I even got to any of them. The frog suit of Cooling Springs is an absolute treasure in its DualSense use, though the levels are not necessarily my favorites. Below you’ll find a list of all Artefacts locations in Astro’s Playroom. Click on the Artefact’s name for a more detailed explanation, or click on the level’s name for a full guide to all the collectibles in that area.
